and just like that, im not an MIT student for a while. like waking up from a dream, suddenly psets, tests, and the general stresses seem like such a distant reality. but with all the stress, why was it that i found myself slow to leave? why did i stay up til 7am when i actually finished packing round 3am?

answer? the same reason that kept me going for like 9 months. the people. in one perspective i spent that night wasting time doing everything but packing. but i could also say i spent the night watching scott pilgrim, eating froyo, babysitting drunk people, playing smash, writing to future selves, going on (failed) early morning verdes runs, n general shooting of the shit with people that ive really bonded with over the course of freshman year.

i no at least some of you will end up seeing this post and i hope you pass on word to the ones who probably wont. this ones for you guys. thanks for an amazing freshman year. heres to the MIT 2015s, looking forward to an awesome next 3 years.

Just to freak people out, this is the Goblin Shark. Yea, it’s a real shark.
Don’t worry; it lives off the coast of Japan in extremely deep waters.
Still, look what it can do…

Have fun in your nightmares.

Life-Altering Invention of the Day: It took two months and a whole team of MIT mechanical engineers and nano-technologists, but at long last, mankind has a solution to the ketchup bottle battle.

LiquiGlide, a “super slippery” coating, is made up of nontoxic materials that allow the condiment to pour out smoothly, the way it was intended. The lubricant can be applied to all sorts of food packaging, but ketchup had better be likely will be priority number one.

One of the biggest challenges the team faced was making sure the coating was safe to consume, which meant ingredients had to be FDA-approved. “We had a limited amount of materials to pick from,” said team member Dave Smith, an MIT Ph.D. candidate. “I can’t say what they are, but we’ve patented the hell out of it.”
